Our History
In early 2021, the Alhambra Young Democrats (AYD) was founded by Nicolas Kiet Quach who was a then-freshman at Alhambra High School in an effort to promote youth engagement across the San Gabriel Valley during the pandemic which drastically saw lower levels of civic engagement among high school students. Early supporters of the Democratic club included HSDA Vice Chair, Claire Liu, CAHSD Chair Joleen Bakalova, and Councilwoman (then-Mayor & Young Democrat) Sasha Renee Perez.
Since then, the Alhambra Young Democrats grown to become a powerhouse in Democratic politics in the West San Gabriel Valley through its massive network of volunteers and ability to effectively fundraise - the most of any Young Democratic club in the San Gabriel Valley. In 2022, they were honored during the May Convention by the California Young Democrats.
